Trail Overview
FS 8019 is a bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located off FS 5000 from either direction, this trail is easily accessible. This trail is able to be combined with a few others in the area to create a fun system. Most of the trail is a combination of dirt and sand with leaves completely covering the trail in certain sections. Starting out, you'll twist and turn as the trail becomes more sandy and rutted. As you continue, you'll be greeted by incredible views of a section of the forest with towering trees and views as far as the eye can see. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. When we ran this trail. we came across A TON of downed trees that we had to use our chainsaw on in order to clear a path to get through. It seemed as if once we got through one downed tree section, we would quickly come across another section that we had to chainsaw our way through. Just keep that information in mind when running any trail in general. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass.
