Trail Overview

Devils CR trail is a narrow two-track trail that runs from its intersection with 336 Rd to its intersection with Forest Road 13041. The trail has a sandy base with some small rocks that protrude through on mildly washed-out hillsides (Typically less than 2- 3 in ruts). The surrounding scenery is a mix of mature forest as well as recently clear-cut sections of forest. If this trail is navigated from north to south, it will begin in dense forest with moderate elevation changes. Sight lines in this area are generally good as the tree cover prevents undergrowth from overgrowing. This first half of the trail is also where the trail is at its widest. The trail is still only one vehicle wide but has enough space in the ditch lines allowing for easier passing. Once the trail reaches the 3/4 mile mark, it begins to become much narrower (some areas will require vehicles to reverse in order to pass), as well as transition in and out of harvested sections of forest. The undergrowth for the remainder of the trail starts to become quite dense, blocking a lot of the oncoming view of the trail. This last portion of the trail is also relatively flat. This is a great trail for someone who is looking to venture further off the gravel road and start to experience some more remote and mildly challenging trails in the area. Cell service in this area begins to get spotty, and traveling with downloaded maps is advised if unfamiliar with the area.

Difficulty

This trail's hardest obstacles are the obstructed sight lines and the narrowness of the trail on the southern half. Beyond that, this trail can be navigated by any vehicle with a basic 4x4 or AWD system. The northern half of the trail develops some ruts on hillsides from rainfall, but there is enough rock under the trail surface to limit the depth of the ruts to under 3 in or less typically.
