Trail Overview
This trail is easily a close second for the most difficult entry to the Arkansas River sandbar. As you reach the river’s edge, the descent becomes extremely steep, combined with a deep hole at the bottom that adds to the severity of the obstacle. Attempting to climb back out will put your vehicle in a near-vertical position, demanding precise throttle control, strong traction, and the right line. This route is not suitable for lightly equipped rigs as large tires, ample ground clearance, lockers, and plenty of horsepower are strongly recommended. River conditions can also shift the sand and increase the depth of the exit hole, making inspection crucial before committing.
Difficulty
This trail is extremely challenging due to its steep, near-vertical exit and deep hole at the river’s edge. It demands large tires, strong traction, and serious horsepower. Conditions can shift with the river, making it risky and suitable only for highly capable rigs and experienced drivers.
History
This park was formerly known as Sandy Bottoms, and longtime visitors may still refer to it by that name. The access road and staging area have evolved over time, but it remains a well-known local spot for off-road events and community rides.
