Wow. That is an incredible view at the top of Chestnut Mountain. As others say, the last few hundred feet, definitely need a good vehicle, and not sure I have any really skills, but do think carefully about your lines and be cautious. It does get a lot more difficult at the end.

This was a fun trail that is a pretty easy drive until the final ascent to the top. There are some rocks and divots that require good clearance. It was a fun challenge in my stock Bronco without lockers, but it was able to make it to the top. Definitely worth the trip for the view at the top. Some pinstriping occurred. Plenty of large but relatively shallow puddles when wet

Most of trail can be ran in 2wd and the last stretch to the top of the mountain looked worse than it actually was. View from the top was worth the drive.

Trail was open and quite easy, easier than I had anticipated actually. Around 3/4 of the way up the trail tightened up but still only a few pinstripes. A full width vehicle would have a good amount more though. Campsite at the top was spectacular! If you’re going to make the trip up definitely stay the night and enjoy a fantastic view of sunset/sunrise. Also, the view of the stars was amazing!

Ran this trail in my Rubicon on 37's with no issues, I was aired down and in 4 low but most could be run in 2wd. There were some ruts here and there but nothing major. We camped on top of Chestnut Mountain, and it has to be one of my top campsites so far. We had Cell signal with AT&T enough to stream Netflix. It rained on us from midnight until 6am the following morning but we didn't have any issues due to that.

I used 2HI throughout most of the trail in 1st gear. There are great obstacles as you approach the peak in which I had to engage 4LO b/c I was slipping in 4HI. Mostly narrow trail so I did hear lots of screeching with plants/branches.
A random dog guided me through the whole trail & back.

Trail was a little tight with growth. The bottom 9/10 of the trail are an easy 2-3 out of 10 but the last section before the summit was a little rutted and washed out. We made it up with 2 wranglers on 37’s with overland trailers and a power wagon on 35’s with no issues and it had just rained.

Dirt/gravel road with some inclines. Wasn’t able to make it to the top but for the most part it was relatively moderate. It wasn’t until more towards the end that it got difficult. Don’t recommend for the unexperienced.

Sacrificed my paint for the view, worth it. Had to back down a significant portion when we met another group, lots of skinny areas and not many passing opportunities. Vegetation is tight for the Tacoma but the only really tight section is the final climb to the summit. Fun trail

This trail isnt clearly marked so be sure to download offline map JIC, although I had service pretty much the entire time (and never found the phone booth smh). Right away off the main road is pinstripe paradise, be warned if you’re worried about your paint. The trail for the most part is wide and simple until you cross the little bridge. Then the trail narrows, climb starts with minor obstacles, and there are some really sharp turns zero visibility turns so take it slow. The last climb 198A is an actually pretty decent challenge with some steep uneven terrain and large rocks, The top had a great review but there was trash on the ground and lots of bullet casings everywhere. Overall, I think it’s a great trail with varying levels of difficulty and some great views. Definitely worth checking out.

Wet day after rain. Not too much mud or water though. I’d rate this trail a 3/10. Cruised right through it. More fun to be had towards the top of the mountain but nothing challenging. Met a couple otw back down and had a nice trail talk. Now on to a few more trails in that area.

Nice run up to what I’ll call “the scenic overlook”, then kinda technical to the top. The view is worth it! Don’t miss the Phone Booth, where you will have a cell signal.

Fun trail, pretty challenging for a stock vehicle. Would definitely recommend airing down before heading up. Rear locker definitely helped.
