Trail Overview
Moss Hill, FSR 28B, is a fairly well-maintained seasonally closed road in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. It is typical of the forest service roads in the immediate area being fairly well groomed and essentially a smooth gravel road. It is an out-and-back FSR, so you will get to see the road from both directions. Great for getting out and checking out different areas in the National Forest, and Moss Hill offers some amazing campsites almost all of which have cell service. Current MVUM maps list this road as being open from 3/15 - 1/1. Check with current MVUMs to verify up-to-date information. Difficulty
This is essentially a gravel road but has random small rock outcroppings, occasional potholes, and small erosion ruts. The trail conditions may vary and there may be downed trees and/or limbs. Having a saw with you may be a good idea if running this FSR early in its opening season. The USFS lists Moss Hill as "Operator Maintenance Level 2- High Clearance Vehicles", however, there is currently no need for much ground clearance on the main road. Some offshoots for hiking trails and campsite access will require some additional clearance.
