Trail Overview

This trail begins at the intersection near the Army Ranger Base, across from Mt. Zion Baptist Church (34.62794, -84.10149). The church parking lot offers some parking opportunities for loading and offloading vehicles. There are a few switchbacks along the trail, and most of the terrain consists of dirt and gravel. In a few sections, you will see a nice mountain stream with dispersed camping sites. All experience levels should feel comfortable on this trail, making it a great family day trip if paired with other trails. If you continue north, you will come to a junction near 34.6532, -84.08447 that opens up to other trail opportunities.

Difficulty

The trail primarily consists of hard-packed clay, silt, and gravel throughout its entire length. It offers ample pull-off points that can be utilized for allowing passage to others or for making turnarounds as necessary.

Recently graded road + no recent rains= dusty ride! Great views & vistas w/leaves out of trees. Be mindful of speed as residents live on this road.
