Trail Overview

FS 639, Blue Mountain Spring, is a beautiful, peaceful, easily navigated trail that parallels US Highway 19 and is located in the Chestatee Wildlife Management Area and Chattahoochee National Forest. FS 639's nearly 3 miles make for a perfect detour off the winding paved roads. There are several areas along the trail to pass oncoming traffic. Expect to see plenty of wildlife due to managed food plots scattered about the trail. The numerous streams and waterfalls make this a must-visit trail. The trail is dirt with vegetation, making this a smooth, pleasurable ride. There a several moderate, sloping inclines that are easily tackled in two-wheel drive. Expect some standing water along the trail following rainfall. The Forestry Service may close this area during the winter to preserve the terrain. A legal vehicle is required to access this trail.

Access Description

Take US Highway 19 north out of the majestic gold rush city of Dahlonega, Georgia. The trailhead will be on the right, located just after the DeSoto Falls Campground.
