Trail Overview

Can you say waterfalls? This trail follows Dicks Creek all the way up to the top of the mountain. The trail is closed at the top due to washouts but you can walk to the top of the falls about 1/4 of a mile to the actual overlook. Camping sites along the river are well maintained as the national forest does a lot of maintenance in this area. Make sure you check your surrounding if planning on camping overnight. Some campsites are marked for no overnight camping (day use only). The trail has 2 small water crossings. They can be crossed by a normal-sized SUV or even a Mini Van. There is fishing, if you plan on coming to this place, bring a fishing pole. This is one of North Georgia's trout fishing steams that is stocked by the National Park System. There is lots of fun to be had here.

The second gate on the trail was closed, but the rest was open. Muddy and bumpy, but can be done in a 2wd vehicle still.

Lots of mud puddles but can be taken with any 2WD, need some ground clearance deeper into the route

A few relatively small mudholes with solid bottoms, a few ruts from all the recent rain, and a few muddy spots. The road before the creek crossing is wide enough for two vehicles, but after the creek crossing, it narrows and becomes less traveled, with foliage growing closer in. It's a single track, but there are a few campsites that allow one vehicle to pull off, although someone will have to do some backing. A regular car can handle the road before the crossing, but afterwards you'll want some better ground clearance. My truck is full-time 4WD, so I can't comment on how well 2WD would fare, but it was nowhere near a hard go.

Nice quiet ride with fisherman all along the creek. Take the kids along and let them jump in the falls.

Great trail overall. Easy grade up, plenty of room on either side to yield to hikers. Rode to the top. Didn't need 4x4. Beautiful scenery up and quiet at the top.

This trail is great if you have kids, plenty of places to stop and explore (hidden water areas near pull overs), play and fish in the water, plus wild Wine Berries and blackberries were found and enjoyed! The trail does sadly come to an end, due to gate being closed, for whatever reason. Nice place to hang out and would definitely go back again.

Nice gravel road to start. Does get narrow in places. Lots of people parking on the side of the road at the earliest falls so watch out for that. As you pass the popular area it opens up a little. Lots of pull of areas and a few parking areas for hiking or playing in the water. Tons of car camping spots. I went all the way to the upper falls then the road was closed. Not sure where the upper falls are but it was a nice ride.

Minimal traffic, but some areas are tight, 1.5 Jeep width. Tons of fisherman…. 70+. Roughly half the campsites were occupied. Beautiful water, beautiful views.
