Trail Overview

Saran Wrap Road (FS 370D) is a scenic loop trail consisting of mostly rock, dry mud and gravel in the Pike National Forest near Colorado Springs, CO. The trail consists of a couple obstacles that require high clearance 4x4 and moderate off-camber sections requiring careful tire placement. There are dry rutted sections including a v-notch that ends at a steep dry mud incline. This trail may be challenging to beginner off-roader and not suitable for stock vehicles. You may find several species of birds, some deer, and tiny Colorado chipmunks along the way. There are no campsites and no available toilets along the way.

Fun loop! Mostly dry with some muddy/wet spots where the snow has melted. Some rough rocky sections. I’d agree with the 6/10 rating.

Probably not accessible after the next snow fall, but it was manageable with a couple of icy climbs. The road itself is pretty intense, I think this is pushing the 6 rating, some obstacles are definitely more deteriorated than they show. I unintentionally continued up the spur FS 370.DA which got more intense quickly, comfortably a 7 or 8 level particularly with an obstacle that is multiple boulders in a deep wash and doesn't feel like you could get a full size vehicle through it. For being so close to Colorado Springs and right off of Gold Camp Road this was quite a bit more technical than I anticipated, extremely good fun.

Some technical areas. Ran backwards from eagle rock trail and came out onto gold camp.. There is a pretty deep eroded area that is a really steep climb with loose gravel. There is a bypass around it which I took before heading back down Saran Wrap to gold camp. Very fun trail but almost all rock so be weary of tire’s if you’re by yourself. Ran in a 4th gen 4Runner on 35’s. Stock gear, factory center lock, no diff locks
