Trail Overview

Richmond Hill Road is a semi-challenging trail that rewards drivers with incredible scenery from start to finish. The route features several steep climbs and descents that require careful attention and confident vehicle control. A high-clearance 4WD vehicle is strongly recommended, as the trail includes off-camber obstacles, large rocks, and technical sections that require good tire placement. The trail connects Aspen and Taylor Pass and can be driven in either direction. At its highest point, 12,289 feet above sea level, you'll be surrounded by breathtaking mountain ranges that stretch for miles in every direction. The sections of the trail closest to Aspen are generally easier, while the terrain becomes progressively more technical as you approach Taylor Pass, making for a rewarding adventure with spectacular alpine views.
