Little Annie Road (CR 15G)

Little Annie Road (CR 15G) is an ideal route for beginner offroaders, high-clearance vehicles, and SxSs seeking spectacular alpine views and a scenic climb to the top of Aspen Mountain. Climbing from Castle Creek Canyon up to the Sundeck at the ski area's summit, this 5.7-mile trail rises from 8,967 feet to an elevation of 11,453 feet, providing a steady, manageable climb of approximately 2,585 feet. The path is typically two vehicles wide and remains fairly well-maintained, though drivers will encounter loose dirt and gravel sections that require caution. Along the way, spectacular vistas of Castle Valley and the rugged surrounding peaks of the Elk Mountains unfold, making it a highly rewarding drive for those wanting to experience high-altitude Colorado scenery without extreme obstacles. Any high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle, SxS, or off-highway vehicle can comfortably navigate this trail under dry conditions, as it is rated a mild 2 out of 10 for technical difficulty. The route provides crucial access to Richmond Ridge and can be completed as a scenic point-to-point journey by continuing down the front side of Aspen Mountain directly into the town of Aspen. In the winter, the road is closed to wheeled motorized vehicles, except for snowmobiles and foot traffic, while summer and fall offer the best conditions to enjoy the changing aspen leaves and alpine wildflower displays. Public parking is available at a small staging area near the trailhead off Castle Creek Road, making it easy to unload off-road vehicles and begin the ascent.
