Middle Rifle Road - FS 837

This trail climbs into the mountains on mostly dirt with 14–18-inch ruts. The surface can become extremely slick and sticky when wet, so avoid the trail in rainy conditions. Brush and shrubs are close to the trail, creating a high risk of pinstriping. The route is highly scenic, with dense aspens and occasional openings overlooking the surrounding mountains and valleys. Around 1.5 miles, a level campsite fits 4–6 vehicles with great views. At 1.6 miles, the trail becomes much narrower and heavily overgrown, making pinstriping unavoidable. Not trailer- or Sprinter van-friendly. A chainsaw or handsaw is recommended.
