Trail Overview

Kerr Gulch - BLM 6110 is a scenic dirt trail that is easy. The road is located outside the town of Howard, CO, and accessible just off of Highway 50. Starts mellow and open. Gradually climbs into tighter, more enclosed terrain. Eventually reaches restricted or closed sections. Classic Texas Creek high desert area with sagebrush, juniper, and piñon pine for scenery. Beautiful views of the nearby mountains.

Difficulty

Wide dirt road, somewhat maintained. Mild grade climbing up the gulch. Some rocky patches and ruts, but nothing extreme

2019 Honda Ridgeline

Disclaimer: We have a stock 2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E, AWD with about 8” of ground clearance. Spoiler: We only made it 7 of the 11 miles up; not because it was too difficult but because it was taking us a long time. The road had several washed out areas, so we had to choose a good line to maximize our 8.3” of ground clearance. Our suspension did fine at slow speeds, but we averaged 6.8 mph. This was not a one and a half hour drive over 21 miles for us. We encountered an F-150 Raptor heading up as we were going down, and they were going faster than 6.8 mph. We also pulled over in a dispersed camping site to rock hound a little, as we saw Ram 1500 heading down quickly that must have been ahead of us. The best part of the day (aside from the beautiful mountains surrounding the trail) was seeing a large juvenile black bear. Would love to run this trail again with more aggressive tires and more ground clearance. Still a good day on the trail!
