Trail Overview
Trail 626 is a one mile long single track in the Pike National Forest in the Captain Jack’s Trail System. The majority of the trail is pretty easy – mostly being a gradual trail on pea-gravel, which can be slippery, but there are a few moderate rock obstacles mid-way through the route that make it more of an intermediate difficulty level. It is a bit rutted in spots with embedded rocks and roots, but the main feature of the trail is the rock obstacle mid-way through that is made up of several larger embedded boulders, with deep ruts and roots, creating a moderate ledge that riders have to go up when riding the trail from east to west. The trail goes through a scenic forest of lodge pole pines and aspens, and big boulders lining the trail. It’s a fun connector trail on the south end of the trail system.
Difficulty
Trail 626 is a moderate difficulty mostly due to a couple intermediate rock features in the middle of the route that are embedded boulder faces and ledges, with ruts and roots. The rest of the trail is easier, but the trail surface is all pea-gravel, which can be very slick at times. Expect deep ruts and short steep sections.
