Trail Overview
This route begins near Colorado River Ranch and passes through a marked corner of private property where public travel is permitted. The trail immediately starts a sustained climb toward a high ridgeline, featuring numerous switchbacks, loose rock, and several steep pitches approaching 40 degrees that will require 4WD and are best tackled with aired-down tires. As the route winds higher, drivers should use caution along exposed shelf-road sections where the narrow trail leaves little room for error. Near the summit, several excellent dispersed campsites provide scenic opportunities to stop and enjoy the surrounding views. The trail then descends via another series of switchbacks and shelf-road segments, where sharp corners and drainage crossings demand careful tire placement and reduced speeds. This difficulty rating is based on dry conditions; wet weather can significantly increase the challenge level.
