Trail Overview
This 3-mile out-and-back trail provides a direct, accessible route starting and ending at Medicine Lake Road within the Modoc National Forest. The track cuts directly through a significant section of the 2021 Antelope Forest Fire burn scar, offering an immersive look at the landscape’s recovery. While the fire’s legacy is visible in every direction, the route also highlights the resilience of the local flora; the ground cover is actively regenerating, featuring a diverse array of species including gooseberry and yellow rabbit bush. It is a quiet, contemplative drive through a landscape in transition.

Carrying a rating of 1, this trail is very easy to navigate. The surface is composed of gravel and is consistently about one vehicle wide. The path is fairly smooth throughout, with no significant technical obstacles, ruts, or washouts to contend with. It is well-suited for any standard high-clearance vehicle and requires no specialized off-road experience.
