Trail Overview
This short, functional connector trail provides a vital transition from the Medicine Road thoroughfare into the deeper forest, terminating at the South Cinder Monument (FS 44N51) junction. Situated within the Modoc National Forest, the route traverses a section of the 2021 Antelope Forest Fire burn zone. Despite the historical impact of the fire, the route offers rewarding mountain views and a look at the ecological transition underway, with ground cover consisting of a mix of grasses and manzanita bushes.
Difficulty
Carrying a rating of 1, the trail is an easy and straightforward drive. The surface is a mix of dirt and crushed black gravel, providing reliable traction. You will encounter one very short shelf-road section; while it is brief, it is an excellent vantage point that highlights the mountain scenery. The trail is well-suited for any standard high-clearance vehicle, and technical demands are minimal.
