Trail Overview

The trail surface here is very powdery dirt, with some rocky sections mixed in, though the defining theme of the south side is manzanita bushes. The entire southern portion of the trail is overrun by manzanita, so expect pinstripes at minimum through this slow-moving stretch. Pine trees are sparse in the south half and become more abundant heading north. As the trail continues north, it emerges from the dense manzanita and opens up considerably, giving much more space to work with. Due to the heavy manzanita and rocks, there are no spots for dispersed camping on the southern portion of this trail.
