Trail Overview

This 5 mile out and back trail starts and ends on Highway 3, beginning in an open meadow. The trail is one vehicle wide, made of fine dirt, and gets very dusty. This section is part of the Shasta National Forest, where open space with just a few pine trees, some quite young, suggests an old clear cut area. About a mile in, the trail enters a thicker forest, and after heading north again, passes through another young pine forest. At mile two, it enters a very thick manzanita area, so expect pinstripes through this stretch. Near the end of the trail, drivers will need to go over a 5 inch log. There are various meadows along the way but they are very soft and dusty.

Difficulty

The concerns are the log crossing, very tight trail with the overgrown vegetation as well as softer loose dirt.
