Trail Overview

This 2+ mile point-to-point trail starts on Hambone - FS 43N21 and ends on Mud Well - FS 41N90, which can be used to reconnect with Medicine Lake Road to complete a loop. The trail is one vehicle wide and quite tight, running through young pine forest within the Shasta National Forest. The surface is fine dirt and very dusty throughout. As with much of this forest, overgrown manzanita and bitterbrush encroach into the trail, with some growing in the median as well. A few downed trees require careful maneuvering around. Some opportunities for dispersed camping exist along the route.

Difficulty

This trail carries an easy difficulty rating of 3 due to the tight log crossing, narrow shelf road with the potential for fallen rocks and boulders from above, an overgrown corridor, and downed trees along the route.
