Trail Overview
This 1.5-mile point-to-point route serves as a quick and efficient connector, beginning at Highway 15 and terminating at the junction of Lava West - FS 44N01 and Cayuse - FS 5N75. The trail winds through a portion of the Klamath National Forest that the 2021 Antelope Forest Fire heavily impacted. Visitors will see clear evidence of recent forest remediation efforts, including sections where fire-damaged trees have been felled and cleared to maintain safe passage. The landscape is currently defined by new-growth sagebrush, showcasing the resilience of the high-desert ecosystem as it recovers from the fire event. It is a straightforward, utilitarian path that offers a firsthand look at post-fire forest management.

This is an easy, rating 1 trail suitable for almost any vehicle. The surface is composed of hard-packed dirt and pumice, which provides a smooth, reliable base. The trail is approximately 1.5 vehicles wide, allowing for comfortable passage. The primary environmental factor to be aware of is the dust; the pumice-based soil becomes very fine and kicks up significantly during dry periods, so please maintain a safe following distance if you are traveling with a group. There are no technical obstacles to navigate, making this a relaxing drive.
