Trail Overview

This 3-mile out-and-back route starts on Sawmill CG - FS 41N70, crossing over Porcupine Butte North - FS 41N36 along the way. The actual Porcupine Lake has long since dried up, so don't expect water at the destination. The trail stays 1.5 vehicles wide, with a surface of dirt covered by lots of old dried pine needles and pine cones. Young trees grow very densely along the route, all within the Shasta National Forest boundary. The trail ends at the north point of the route at a large turnaround area that has been logged.
