Trail Overview

This trail starts off as forest roads meandering down the canyon. As you get near the bottom and second half the trail ruts get deeper and the trail gets slightly overgrown. At the bottom is a large campsite on the river with fishing and endless nearby roads to explore. Be ready for over gown bushes and possible trees down on the trail. High-clearance vehicles are recommended as some of the ruts are deep and full of rocks.

Difficulty

This trail has some deep ruts and during the winter and spring seasons, it can be muddy and wet. The river crossing water levels can vary and on the other side of the river, there are some large rocks to maneuver. Be prepared for downed trees and overgrown bushes.

Coming from the north side, the gate was closed. Coming from the south side, made it to within a quarter mile of the river and multiple trees blocking the trail.

The second gate on one side is still closed. Tried going around by wrights crossing, only made it a few minutes in before running into a bunch of downed trees.

Decent size mud hole just before the north fork crossing if you are traveling east. Was unable to pass the obstacle as I’m learning the limits of my rig. High clearance needed. Expect pin striping. Planning to go back to complete it!

Trail is pretty dusty with a group. Only saw two other rigs in north fork. No one on the off shoots . Pin striping will occur. Don’t go if you love your paint job.

Nice & dry but has a fair number of ruts. Lots of “tight” spots with branches and overgrown bushes hugging the sides of the vehicle.

Most of the trail is easy except for the bank on the east side of the river/stream crossing. A lifted XJ with open diffs and 31" tires was able to make it up with some spotting.

Relatively easy trail, some mud. I could see that this trail would be more difficult in a muddier season. I drove the trail west to east. The trai was dry but rutted where the mud had dried, especially on the west half. Definitely sketchier if wet. Coming up from the water crossing (again west to east) there is a very tight turn and a tree. Not hard this time of year, good for beginners and intermediate.

As soon as you pass a creek there is a 4ft rocky clime. Sequoia and Tacoma’s would able to handle this without a winch. Jeep wrangler Rubicon and Gladiator Rubicon were able to pass no problem without winching.

Trail down to the river gradually got more and more difficult with a few mud holes and a couple drop offs. Water crossing is a little technical. Uphill section looks very technical and possibly only for short wheel base vehicles. We turned around and the water crossing.

Some water in a few spots making it muddy (but never got stuck) . Pinstriping from foliage on both sides, creek crossing is deeper than it looks (2ft+ in spots) but manageable in stock Rubicon. Nice place to stop by the creek and have lunch or turn around if you don't want to cross the creek. Uphill section after creek passable by jeeps and shortbed trucks.
