Trail Overview
Forest Service 3N60 cuts straight off FS 3N01 into the timbered backcountry of the Stanislaus National Forest. This road is typically a key gateway into the Hull Creek Off- Highway Vehicle network, but a massive downed tree shuts it down near the one-mile mark. For now, expect a short out-and-back cruise instead of a through-route deeper into the forest. Towering pines and firs form a heavy canopy overhead, shading a thick understory of green brush along the shoulders. Campers frequently head down this line to claim a private dispersed camp tucked off the main track. Keep in mind that a nearby side spur is also completely impassable from deadfall. Until trail crews clear the heavy timber, the run dead-ends right at the main log blockage.
Difficulty
Rated a 2, this trail is a straightforward cruise on a wide dirt and gravel base with dependable traction. Shallow ruts and rolling dips crop up along the way, but straddling the center line keeps tires on level ground without issue. Trail crews and previous drivers have pushed fallen branches to the shoulders, leaving a clear track topped with pine needle duff. The route stops cold at the fallen tree across the road, but a wide flat area makes it easy to complete a clean three-point turn.
