Trail Overview

This is a scenic trail with views looking back towards Highway 108. The trail follows along the ridge and has smaller rock obstacles that shouldn't be much of an issue for most 4x4 vehicles. This is just one of many trails and roads in the area to explore so be sure to plan a nice day of adventuring in the area!

Difficulty

This trail is mostly covered in smaller rocks but there are some roots sticking up out of the ground as well as some lava flow rocks along the ridge. Most 4x4 or SXS vehicles should be able to make it up or down just fine.

Beautiful drive. Some spots with snow and puddled water.

Pretty easy trail. Gets a little narrow but no crazy scratch hazards. Definitely would recommend high clearance vehicle. 2wd when dry is doable. Gets a little rocky In some parts.

We took the trail up from Hull Creek. Explored some side roads and found a great dispersed camping spot. Then drove down from the top. Little bumpy on the top with some rocks but not bad. Most things on the trail 12 inches or less. Nice views from on the top.

Great view towards the top, a lot of big rocks towards the top as well. Came in through FS 3N01 and took service roads all the way to Crabtree Road and out at Dodge Ridge resort entrance. Made for a nice 12 mile trip

Easy and fun drive. Lots of side spurs to explore. Just saw one dirt bike on the trail. The trail was obstructed by a tree as mentioned in a previous post, but I moved it fairly easily. Some beautiful views along the way.

Started out easy, but the new snow at higher elevation became extremely challenging. Also, at the end of the trail, there is a downed tree. It’s definitely possible to roll over with sufficient vehicle clearance, but I would suggest bringing a chainsaw or strong tow rope just in case. Also, don’t forget your leather work gloves, a good snow shovel, shears or branching cutters for the many thorn bushes on the trail, and traction boards (though rubber floor mats work quite well in a pinch).

First 1/3 is easy gravel, but the rest is pretty washed out with great deal of rocks of various sizes. Couple of spots with remains of downed trees are somewhat narrow, might be tight for full size vehicle.

Trail is pretty rough with lots of rocks, rutts, and washboard. Amazing views at the top. Lots of spots to pull off or turn around. Just very bumpy for a truck or SUV; you find yourself crawling the whole trail, which kills alot of time.

With the exception of the downed tree near the end of the trail on the east side, this trail was very well groomed, fun, and easy difficulty. There was only one, maybe two spots where 4WD was necessary and even then probably not absolutely necessary. If you are traveling down the trail from Long Barn toward Pinecrest the downed tree can be detoured by using trail 4N99 just to the north of this trail.
