Trail Overview
Accessed directly from Chapman Saddle, this route takes you on a peaceful journey through a dense, towering evergreen forest. Because the thick, tightly packed trees line the shoulders so closely, you will not find any sweeping scenic vistas or open clearings suitable for dispersed camping anywhere along the way. The driving surface is wide and inviting, primarily consisting of a semi-smooth, hard-packed sand road with alternating sections of mixed dirt that provide reliable traction. As you cruise along, the track remains clear of any significant obstacles like deep washouts, large fallen logs, or sharp rocks. You will navigate a series of gentle, sweeping corners that are naturally bordered by small dirt berms built up along the outer edges. Stay focused and keep momentum as the surface transitions between firmer dirt and softer sand. This is a straightforward forest cruise that lets you enjoy the densely wooded surroundings.
Difficulty
The lack of deep ruts, sharp embedded rocks, or complex, off-camber challenges makes this a friendly road. The minor challenges that bump it up to a level two are a few scattered rolling bumps, patches of slight washboarding on the insides of the corners, and the somewhat unpredictable nature of the soft sandy sections. To conquer these minor hurdles effortlessly, simply keep a steady throttle and employ smooth steering inputs. As long as you respect the varying traction limits of the sandy patches and take the small bumps at a cautious, comfortable speed, your all-wheel-drive system will glide right through without a hitch.
