This trail, once you pass the cattle grid, becomes buttery smooth and winds beautifully through the forest, making for a gorgeous drive. This road is restricted to highway-legal vehicles, so keep that in mind when planning your trip. If you plan to use an SxS or ATV on the trails, helmets are required in California when operating these vehicles, especially for children, so make sure everyone follows the rules. As you approach A1, the road gradually gets rougher, but it remains manageable and shouldn’t pose major issues for suitable vehicles. Access is seasonal, with the road open from April 1 through December 25, so plan your visit accordingly. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid California ATV Operating Permit sticker.
