Trail Overview

This trail starts pleasantly, winding through the area before passing two campgrounds. The first is relatively straightforward, while the second has a large, open area with plenty of sun and a substantial fire ring. Beyond the second campground, the road gets much dustier and rougher underfoot, with a deep sandy surface that hides surprising amounts of volcanic rock. Although the trail is generally easy to follow and doesn't present major technical challenges, don’t let the sandy appearance fool you. Sharp, uneven rocks lie beneath the loose surface, so be careful with your tire placement and avoid going too fast through the rougher sections. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid California ATV Operating Permit sticker.
