Trail Overview

This beautiful, well-maintained trail climbs through the forest and offers a lovely drive with some stunning surroundings. It’s a popular route, and although a few downed trees remain, most have been cleared, making the trail easy to follow. The route is relatively short but well worth exploring, with attractive terrain and a peaceful setting. At the end of the trail, you’ll find a gorgeous dispersed camping area beside a large red volcanic mound, plus another nearby flat area that may offer extra space to stop. The volcanic landscape makes this a particularly striking spot to spend some time. Elk have also been spotted in the area, so this route may appeal to hunters looking for suitable terrain. ATVs, UTVs, Side-by-Sides, and Dirt Bikes must always have a valid California ATV Operating Permit sticker.
