Trail Overview
FS 1S82 branches off FS 1S81 in the Groveland Ranger District of Stanislaus National Forest, running as a single-track spur through mostly open, fire-affected terrain near the Yosemite boundary. The trail passes through an open metal gate not far from the junction, a low-key marker rather than any kind of barrier. The tread is packed dirt covered with wood chips and forest debris for nearly the entire route, a surface that slows the pace without adding technical difficulty. One moderate rut appears partway along, deep enough that higher-clearance vehicles have an easier time avoiding bottoming out than lower-riding ones. Otherwise the trail stays consistent and predictable start to finish, with no major obstacles. A couple of dispersed campsites sit along the route, offering isolated, private camping well away from other traffic.
