Trail Overview

Forest Service Road 1S134 is a relatively flat point-to-point trail that spans just over 1.62 miles. It starts near Baldwin Mountain Road off Sandy Flats Bypass (FS 1S86) and ends near 120 Cutoff FS1S06 off Sandy Flats Loop (FS 1S87). The trail surface is sand and pumice, one vehicle wide, and lined with sagebrush. It winds through a sparse pine forest with scenic views of Crater Mountain and the Eastern Sierra. The combination of open sections and shaded forest provides a mix of exposure and shelter, making it an easy, scenic ride for most vehicles.

Difficulty

Most of the trail is smooth and easy to navigate. A small section along the Crater Loop features larger ruts and washboarded whoops caused by heavy side-by-side use. Overgrown branches along the trail may contact taller vehicles.
