Trail Overview

You head out on hard-packed red dirt from the start, tracing the boundary between the Sierra Pacific Industries logging area and the Eldorado National Forest. This single-lane road stays consistently smooth with no notable rutting, no gravel or rocks to worry about, and no clearance concerns anywhere along the route. Expect dust, since this is an active logging road with regular equipment traffic, and you may share the road with logging vehicles or campers using it as an access point. The straight, well-maintained lane makes for an easy, fast ride. After 0.7 miles, you drop back out onto Granite Springs Road.

Difficulty

This road is about as easy as they come, with a smooth, hard-packed dirt surface and no rocks, ruts, or clearance concerns anywhere along its length. The only real challenge is dust, since this is an active logging road that sees regular equipment traffic. Because it doubles as a working logging route and a camper access point, be alert for oncoming vehicles, including larger logging trucks or machinery. Otherwise, this is a straightforward, low-difficulty ride suitable for most vehicle types.
