Trail Overview

This trail starts at Highway 15 and was part of the 2021 Antelope Fire, with remnants of the fire clearly noted throughout the route. The trail has recently been cleared and graded, improving access following the fire damage. The sides of the trail are full of young flora, including young sagebrush and grasses, showing signs of active forest regeneration in the years since the burn. Some vegetation is growing in the median of the trail, and high clearance is recommended. After leaving the highway at approximately mile 0.5, the trail rewards drivers with expansive views of the surrounding mountains, including Mount Shasta, providing a dramatic scenic backdrop as the route continues. Seasonal wildflower blooms may greet visitors during appropriate times of year, adding vibrant color to the recovering landscape. Most of the spur trails that once existed along this route have long disappeared following the fire, simplifying navigation.
