Branching off Forest Road 6N11, Buck Ranch West - FS 6N09 serves as a rugged connector trail that delivers throughput toward 7N23 and deeper reaches of the backcountry. Set within the Stanislaus National Forest, the landscape transitions between tall mixed-conifer timber and sun-exposed ridges lined with thick manzanita brush. Off-roaders frequently travel this single-lane route to secure secluded dispersed campsites tucked along the ridge crests. The driving surface consists of loose soil, coarse gravel, and chunky embedded cobble over continuous uphill grades. Drivers will encounter tight squeezes created by cleared downed logs, uneven dips, and narrowing corridors past the FS 7N23 junction before completing the traverse.

High ground clearance and tires with strong traction are required to navigate the loose scree and rocky steps without losing momentum or underbody clearance.
