Pilot Knob Mountain

The obstacle should probably give it a 4. I didn’t think my Tacoma would get down on the way out unscathed so I turned around.

The summit is a must to camp at. The trail to get to the summit should be rated a 4. The entrance is rough with some steep continuous rock stairs. We scraped on the way down. We would definitely come back here!

We were up here the week of 4/21 and camped. You will need a pretty aggressive stock 4x4 vehicle to make it up this without dragging on some of the rocks, especially coming back down, so pick your line carefully. Low range is not necessary but helpful going up. It was upsetting to see the amount of trash and broken glass scattered around at the top. Nearly filled my spare tire trash bag picking up the worst of it, but there was still a lot. This is a popular camping spot with gorgeous views. Please pick-up after yourselves and leave this area nicer than you found it to prevent future closure. Thank you!

The trail was cool to drive up but the trees at the top have grown to a point of severely obstructing the views. I can imagine what it once was but can hardly see anything now.
