Trail Overview

Beach Grove Road is lovingly referred to as The Whoops. This is due to the numerous water breaks on the trail. UTV riders will find this to be a fun trail to ride at a moderate pace, and 4x4 vehicles will enjoy the view and length of the trail. The trail also has many primitive places to camp. Overland travelers can find plenty of places to set up camp and enjoy a secluded retreat. The trail merges into Morgan Mountain Trail, or you can continue to Rd 5051 or continue to St Paul. There are plenty of options, with many side trails and scenic views. At the high point, you will cross a huge rock slab. The trail is not difficult, but the erosion control water breaks along the trail can prove to be an issue for low-clearance vehicles. Several side trails off the main trail are designated for off-road use.

Difficulty

70% of this trail is easy. There are several water breaks that would be difficult for a low-clearance SUV.

We ride a sxs. There is a couple of large trees down just past the chimney homestead area. There is a way around.

Trail was open. A couple of mud holes on the northern side are getting quite deep and technical. I’d rate it a 4.5 for those spots and if you take the bypass.

I ran the full length in a 16 vw touareg and 31" tires. No issues, there was an uphill with loose rocks that made it challenging. Air down and momentum are your friends

Had our friends along in their tundra on 33’s with this one. Minimal traffic – spotted a few side-by-side and two dirt bikes, but no camping or other vehicles observed tundra had to turn around just passed road 1533 due to dragging and tight turns. Jeep had no trouble on the rock garden that goes north from 1533 up to Big Chimney.

The trail was a lot less busy than it has been in the past. The technical section near the end of the trail (as you come back down to Hwy 215) seemed to be a lot easier and less narrow than I remembered from a few years ago. Highly recommend this trail even if you have a stock Bronco, Wrangler, etc.

Super fun trail with only a few technical sections. Did most of the trail in 2WD, with 2 door jeep on 37” tires. Most of the traffic stayed on the south end of the trail. Rained entire time, but didn’t cause any difficulties

Description is pretty much spot on for this one IMO. Stock high clearance vehicles can do this pretty easily, however a stock Gladiator on 32" tires in our group drug the belly on a couple of the water breaks. Its tight in a few places... trail pinstripes possible. An overall nice trail with just enough challenge to make it fun. Can be done in 2wd but you'll be on the brakes a lot headed south.

Clear. Stock 4x4 can do this easy. This trail can have many mud holes but today it was completely dry. Very dusty.

Good ride! Morgan Mtn Rd/1504 is passable. There was a road closed sign there that was moved to one side! So 1504 to Beach Grove trail is completely doable!
