Trail Overview

Start your route to Woodchute Trail by climbing through the historic minig town of Jerome, a bustling art and tourism hub with great restaurants. Continue on 89A to the base of Woodchute Mountain at 7,860 feet. You'll keep climbing up Woodchute and then enjoy a twisty, windy trail. Take a break to step through the trees and witness the gorgeous views of Verde Valley. This is a fun trail for ATVs and side-by-sides.

This trail is very short and was able to complete in about an hour. It has some rocky sections and you will get pin stripes!!

This trail is very Rocky with a number of rocks that required hey I left vehicle. My 2025 bronco four-door did a little dragon. It's a pretty technical road. Definitely not for the faint Hearted

Fun off chute to include on any travel in the area. Expect lots of brush and pin striping. Some tight spots but nice trail with great views and trees. This is a nice trail for beginners and seasoned travelers. Yo

We started on the trail coming from Prescott to Jerome. The trail is very narrow! Anything wider than a JL wrangler will have trouble getting through without extensive trimming. I would not recommend any stock vehicle. A half dozen sections where 1.5-3’ boulders are either on the trail or water runoff has caused some areas to have large drop offs. The trail maintains a narrow width the entire way with some more open spots. Even our JLU 2021 rubicon had the window rubber seals ripped right off the passengers side and throughout the entire trial I hugged as tight and close as possible to the drivers side. Lots of pinstripping on both sides. As you work your way down the trail from the top, you get into very uneven, washed out terrain (but fun). The last mile or so is very sketchy with the cliff side trail deteriorating a bit in 3 spots but navigable. Overall, beautiful trail just be mindful of width and skill set. My wife’s wildtrax bronco would not fit due to width. I’d definitely do it again.

OK trail, there are others nearby with better scenery (Jerome to Williams). Very bouncy for the first third. Somewhat uninspiring.

Trail was in fairly good condition, there a few areas that have some washing out.. for the most part an easy to moderate driving experience. Note if your driving a newer jeep beware you will come home with new pinstripes. The trail is very narrow, in my 06 TJ was scraping sides and top constantly. Would not recommend this in bigger vehicles.

Tight trail that left some Sierra Pinstripes (small surface scratches on the body), wet snow, tight switchbacks with snow and mud. Lots of rocky areas to climb and go down, and of course the fallen tree we moved out of the way.. Definable capable rigs can pass with some nice challenges, but nothing too challenging. You’ll come out muddy this week…
