Trail Overview

AZ State Trust permit required. This scenic trail circles around the Sawtooth Mountains. It is on BLM and AZ State Trust and skirts private land. You will experience forests of cholla, saguaro, and large pear cactus, which are extremely beautiful in their natural setting. After rains, the greenwash will have running water, so use good judgment before crossing. This is an easy trail for an afternoon ride.

Good run, easily done in 2H in standard high clearance vehicle (jeep). 4H was a better experience. I would not do this in a stock SUV. Several fun water crossings on the lower trail. Livestock on route but they seemed used to the vehicle. Graveyard was cool!

Did counter clockwise. Clockwise would have been better for passenger views. Hit a few short offshoot trails. Most scenic on eastern side. Plan on some desert pinstripes. Easy and stock 4x4 is good. Nice easy day for solo.

lots of Rocky sections. Some deep washes. first time I've used the 4 low and sway bar on my jeep. It was a good learning trip for me. no cell signal in places. I would have aired down if I had a compressor with me. the big gate on Harmon rd appeared locked but was not. We started there but went around to the other side to begin our run and ended up coming to the gate from the other side with zero no trespassing signs

Trail was in good condition. There is a swinging gate at the NE entrance followed by a barb wire gate about a half mile in. Both gates can be opened easily. Be sure to close gates behind you as there are cattle in the area. Widowmaker peak is very steep and should not be attempted by beginners, but the view is excellent from the top.

Lots of cacti and some cattle. Fun trip through some interesting landscape. Have to be careful with the Ricky areas throwing off compass's.
