Trail Overview
Quail Run is a well-traveled two-track trail that serves as a decent access route through the area, combining ease of travel with a hint of excitement. This trail balances fun with functionality, as it's clear that previous users have maintained its condition, resulting in minimal potential for the dreaded Arizona pinstripes on your vehicle. As you navigate the trail, you'll encounter a few moderate washouts that add character and challenge to your drive. Additionally, several fun hills are sprinkled throughout, featuring small shelves that spice up the journey--especially more prevalent in the northern section compared to the southern end. While Quail Run offers a thrilling ride, it does not present many opportunities for dispersed camping. Fortunately, better-suited trails are nearby for those looking to find overnight spots. However, the trail is alive with wildlife, particularly quail;you'll likely see numerous flocks darting about, creating an incredible viewing experience. Important Note: Be aware that cellular service on this trail is limited, typically offering only one bar of LTE that may fade in and out, so it's advisable to download your offline maps before starting your adventure. Always prepare for the desert environment by bringing sufficient water and supplies for your journey.
Difficulty
This trail is rated as a 3, mainly due to the few challenging short shelves and washouts that require careful navigation. A stock 4x4 vehicle should have no trouble, provided you choose your lines wisely.
