Trail Overview

FS 422P branches off West Side Trail and follows a bumpy gravel two-track through a beautiful mix of tall aspen and pine trees, with natural grasses and low ferns lining the route. Expect a few mud holes along the way after rain; high clearance is recommended, with 2WD/4WD depending on conditions. The trail eventually enters a tighter stand of aspens, making this an excellent fall foliage drive. Further along, the route passes through a pine grove before reaching another beautiful aspen grove with a walking trail around it. The trail appears to have originally continued to the north side, but access is currently blocked by trees that appear to have been intentionally cut and stacked across the route. Because of the blockage, the trail is now out-and-back.
