Trail Overview
Trail FS 257F begins off Orderville Canyon Trail, starting high on a forested hill and following a wide, open ridgeline with frequent wildlife sightings. After about a quarter mile, it narrows significantly, with a hillside to the east and a noticeable drop-off to the west. The trail gets a bit bumpy with some rocks, but remains non-technical. Around a mile in, it turns right, dips through a small valley, then climbs up the next hillside, where it becomes tighter and slightly overgrown in spots. At the top, the landscape shifts into a maze of burned trees from the White Sage Fire—charred but still standing—creating a unique and eerie finish to an otherwise scenic ridge drive.
Difficulty
Nothing technical, but it does get a little tight in a few areas, drops down into a small valley to cross to the other ridge line, and ends in a heavily burned area, and ends just shy of the end of the trail due to a downed burned tree.
History
