Cottonwood Spring #664

This short ATV spur starts off of Forest Service Road 705 and immediately starts a gradual climb up a hill through the scrub oak. The trail is covered in a layer of loose, round cobble rock, but in general, the rock on this trail is easier to ride over than the rock on many of the surrounding trails because it is smaller and more packed down. The trail is less trafficked, with few tracks to follow, as it winds through the pinyon, and eventually peters out in the trees after less than a mile. This trail leads to a nonmotorized hiking trail, so it will have to be ridden as an out-and-back. It remains a decent width for ATVs the whole time, making it one of the few trails in the area that is actually suitable for ATVs, as many of the ATV trails in this system are very rocky and technical, and more so resemble single track.
