Trail Overview
This trail follows along power lines for a portion of the route, winding back and forth through the forest on a mostly easy dirt surface. The road is not very rocky for most of the drive, though you may encounter some rougher patches and occasional downed trees in areas impacted by past fires that are still recovering. As you near the end, the final quarter mile descends along a wider shelf road down to the trailhead gate for Casner Mountain, Taylor Cabin, and Mooney trails. The parking area at the end offers an incredible vista overlooking Sycamore Canyon, with views that rival the Grand Canyon. Note that there is no camping allowed at the trailhead.
Difficulty
This trail is rated 3/10 due to the potential for rutted and slippery conditions after rain or snow, the shelf road descent near the end, and minor rough sections along the route. While generally easy, drivers should be prepared for changing conditions and uneven terrain.
