Trail Overview

BLM PE1142 is a north-south spur off BLM PE1139 that follows a natural gravel 2-track along the ridgeline, offering beautiful views in every direction. The trail winds through classic desert terrain surrounded by creosote, barrel cactus, and scattered ocotillo. There is a gate along the route that should be kept closed. The trail remains easy, with no technical obstacles or challenging sections, but watch your footing if you step off the established track—there are plenty of ground-cover cacti waiting to make their presence known. Watch pets and children. The route eventually reaches a camping area before fading back into nature. Beyond the campsite, larger rocks and increasingly overgrown vegetation take over, and the established 2-track eventually disappears back into nature.
