Trail Overview
The trail was recently part of the Baja 250 and stretches from race mile 77 to 82, covering VCPs 71 to 75. This segment offers a deceptive calm--minimal whoops, wide-open desert--but the terrain quickly reminds you it's no cruise. The trail starts with less, fine sand that can swallow momentum quickly. Airing down is essential here. Deep ruts from the Baja 250 are present throughout, especially in the early miles. A short section transitions to hard-packed sand with embedded rocks, but it's brief--then you're back into the soft, light sand that demands attention. Desert vegetation surrounds the route, with large creosote bushes and tall ocotillos lining the corridor. This trail isn't overly technical, but the combination of soft surface and carved ruts makes it challenging for improperly equipped rigs. Don't forget to close the cattle gate behind you as you enter this section--respect for the land helps keep these routes open.
Difficulty
Mostly very deep, soft sand with some deep ruts. Airing down is critical. 4WD recommended. One rocky patch may require careful tire placement, but it's short.
