Trail Overview

Palo Verde Run follows the recent Baja 250 race miles 71 to 76, between VCPs 68 and 75. This segment rolls through bottomless sand with medium ruts carved in by race traffic, creating a soft but navigable route with the proper setup. The trail offers a change of scenery with a surprising bonus: a dense stand of Blue Palo Verde trees lining sections of the route, adding color and contrast to the Baja desert floor. Ocotillo, cactus, and other native flora frame the ride, and the open desert gives way to long straightaways where you can carry some speed- watch out for the occasional rock and tight brush near the trail's edge. On clear days, the trail offers beautiful, layered views of distant mountain ranges and glimpses of the Sea of Cortez in the background. It's a rewarding ride for drivers who can stay light on the throttle and avoid getting bogged down.
