Trail Overview
Beginning just east of Middle Road, this lightly traveled trail starts with faint two-track impressions across smooth, open terrain, offering a relaxed and scenic drive. The only clearly defined tracks appear in the silt beds, some of which are nearly a foot deep, though this section is brief. After a sharp 90-degree left turn, the trail transitions into a narrow, winding path that closely follows old cattle routes, with no visible tire marks for much of the way. The route weaves through scattered medium-sized cordon cacti and low desert vegetation, alternating between sandy stretches and rocky patches as it gently climbs and descends through the landscape. Near the end, the trail tightens significantly with another 90-degree left turn back toward Middle Road. Though passable with a high-clearance 4WD, this trail is best suited for side-by-sides or smaller rigs--anything larger than a Jeep risks significant scratching. Just before reconnecting with Middle Road, there's a four-foot-deep rain wash, though a narrow go-around offers a manageable bypass.
Difficulty
This trail is rated for high-clearance 4WD and smaller off-road vehicles, with a Jeep being about the largest rig you'd want to take through. While it's not particularly difficult in dry conditions, the first section does feature some deep silt beds that can be tricky. Beyond that, the trail is relatively straightforward, though narrow brush may cause some light scratching even on smaller vehicles.
