Trail Overview
This short and scenic 5-mile off-road route offers a smooth journey north across a dry lake bed, branching off from the main trail that runs the lake's full length. The trail traverses vast, flat expanses that stretch for miles, interspersed with sections of medium-density desert vegetation and a few striking El Cordon cacti. Under dry conditions, the route is easily passable without the need for 4WD, though rain can dramatically transform the terrain into a more challenging and adventurous drive. The trail ends at a remote ranch house, which also serves as a key junction--turn right here to reconnect with the main road leading back to Punta Cancun or head left towards Cuidad Constitucion.
Difficulty
This trail is smooth and easily navigable for any 2WD vehicle in dry conditions. However, if there has been recent rainfall, use caution and inspect the surface before proceeding--being at the bottom of a dry lake bed, the terrain can quickly become unpredictable and significantly more challenging when wet.
