Cruz Loop

This trail begins off a well-established road and transitions into a lightly traveled, smooth route that welcomes you with desert scenery. Early on, you'll pass a grave marked by a cross, a poignant landmark near the start. The trail meanders through a picturesque section of medium-height desert vegetation, offering two or three ideal flat campsites. As the route curves left, it runs parallel to a fence line for approximately three miles. This segment features newly cut road sections that are rough and uneven, with loose sand and rocky patches. Be cautious, as remnants of barbed wire may occasionally appear on the trail due to a dismantled fence separating two adjacent roads. After a sharp left turn, the trail continues on a freshly cut path for about a mile before connecting to a more well-maintained, higher-traffic road that loops you back to your starting point.
