Description
Trail starts at the Bennington Battlefield Park parking area where you can view information about the battle and look at a replica of one of the two British cannons that were emplaced during the battle in August 1777. It then continues through an open area with the 1777 tree line marked before entering a wooded area. The trail circles the hill on which the battle took place, allowing you to examine some of the terrain that the Vermont Militia members encountered. The trail is well marked by red placards nailed to the trees. The trail and park was enjoyed by our kids (ages 7, 5, and 3). If hiking with kids realize the trail does cross the park road near the halfway point, so don't let them get too far ahead.
